I mean by has anyone ever wanted to go back and play games from older consoles especially games that are stuck on older consoles? Games that look like they are never going to get ported. I felt like doing that recently.
I got overwhelmed by the sheer amount of digital games I have recently and decided to go back to one of my older consoles and playing through ‘Thrillville: Off the Rails’ has been so nostalgic. I’ve been even checking out secondhand stores for games I never got to check out like ‘Psychonauts’ and ‘Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc’. I haven’t gotten around to replaying some of my older games yet, but the ones I’ve already started really bring memories back.
What about all of you?

Playing on the original hardware is harder these days, but as for the games themselves absolutely, whether it's a replay or new to me. Currently, I'm playing the first Zelda and, PC not console, but Quest For Glory 1.
Planning a replay of Lunar Silver Star Story Complete very soon. Last year I played Luigi's Mansion on GameCube, and Soul Calibur 2. I regularly return to SNES stuff. Age doesn't really play into my decisions on what to play next, so it's all a hodge podge

I love playing in my old consoles. Right now I'm playing with my 2DS (both games I already have and games I buy). I don't mind not to play on the latest console. For example, when I finished Red Dead 2 on PS4, I just wanted to play the first one, so I looked for my old PS3 and just play it.
It's also very nostalgic when I play the games of my childhood in their original console, such as Pokémon Emerald on my red GBA SP or the original God of War on PS3. I have also re-played the Nintendo DS Animal Crossing despite having the Switch one.

I love to do this all the time! I actually hooked up my Wii recently so I could play Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (which is a GameCube game but I don’t have one of those).
I definitely have a lot of older games in my backlog I want to play, plus sometimes I love to revisit my old games too on older consoles. I do like when consoles have backwards compatibility though, it definitely makes it easier to play older games. I’ll generally choose to play a newer version of a release too on current consoles like 75% of the time if it’s an option.

All the time! I have all these new games that I need to play, and yet I just really want to go back to the old games. Most of them are PS1/2 although every now and then I get the itch for Super Mario 3. I always have my PS2 hooked up and ready to go.

PS3 is the only "older" console I buy games for. I go to the occasional convention to buy them, my PS3 has lasted this long might as well milk it for all it's worth. I emulate mostly everything else before that. I don't like collecting PS2 games anymore.

I do some game collecting for the SNES, DS, 3DS, and Wii. I still often play games on the Wii and DS, which were my childhood consoles. I really want to get an original Xbox again since I have a ton of memories with those games, I still have a blast with Fusion Frenzy and Battlefront 2. I find myself going for modern options of games whenever they are available to me though since it's just more convenient most of the time, but for games that are only available on older consoles I like to get and it's usually a fun experience.

That makes up 98% of all my gaming!
For the past two decades I've been enjoying catching up completing my all-time favorite childhood games, discovering games I missed out on playing, and have greatly appreciated the fan-translation community releasing English patches throughout the years. I seldom play modern games, and have little interest in indie games. Also not a fan of digital games in general, owning under five games in my Steam library. The few modern games I'm interested in are from classic franchises- Street Fighter 6, The King of Fighters XV, and the upcoming Fatal Fury: City of Wolves, Streets of Rage for example.

When I have a kid and he hits eight years old. I will probably be going back to the 360/xbox era for five years to play co op!

I sometimes get this itch, but the convenience of emulators with all the QOLs and having everything together in a single place is just too comfy to leave behind.

It depends but I do notice I have to be in the right mood for it. As much as I hate to say it, a lot of the older games I loved to play as a kid are kid a little to hard to get into either because of the controls or the gameplay mechanics. I often wonder how I had so much patience to get through some of them, often more than once!

I picked up a Super NT last year, that combined with modding the Wii U has lead me to playing some older games.
Recently been playing a lot of Goemon 2 on the SNES. My problem is there is so much new stuff coming out, it's hard to find the time to play it all. Next month we've got Ys X and Romancing Saga 2 releasing a day apart.

The main reason why I still got my PS3 is that they stopped making games like Guitar Hero and I really really like to play that one from time to time.
So yes, I do go back to my older consoles from time to time.
SNES for Lion King, Sega Mega Drive for Twisted Metal but mainly PS3 for the move and guitar games.
