Mine wasn't great, mainly because I was deaf in one of my ears for 2 months and that really defined the year for me. Honestly everything else just felt like a carryover of 2020.

It was... a year. But, hey, could've been worse... We weren't in the areas on fire in the province, or the areas that got flooded! But yeah definitely some ups and downs, our eldest cat passing making losing two cats in two years, the... everything. On the other hand we adopted another cat, so that softens things a bit. And family and friends have stayed safe, very very grateful for that. Ups, downs, flats... A year.

My first half was kinda bad, but the second was overwhelmingly positive.

During the first half of 2021:
- I wasn't really happy on my job, even though I loved the company, my position sucked
- My dad is a doctor working on the frontline and got Covid, but thankfully nothing happened to him.
- Vaccines weren't widely available in Brazil for some time, so since all my coworkers are from the US, it was kinda hard seeing everyone talking about getting vaccinated while we were becoming the epicenter of the pandemic.
- Due to being unsatisfied on my previous role, it took a heavy toll on my mental health because I wasn't sure what to do next (since it's a bit hard finding decent companies in Brazil that pays well), so at some point I was even thinking about moving to EU since I have an EU passport.

During the second half:
- I got promoted and was able to change to a position that I currently love
- I got a new PC and I'm enjoying a whole lot more my gaming time
- We started organizing our wedding for next May
- This is negative, but a lump appeared on my triceps and I had to go through emergency surgery on the 27th to remove it. Just to finish 2021 with some ~adrenaline~

woah, congratulations on the promotion! I've had similar struggles with my work last year but I think I've finally moved up to a role I can find enjoyment in for a few years until moving on.

and congrats on the engagement(?) too!

It was... pretty bad. It was worse than 2020 for me. The best parts were me finally adopting a cat that I love, and getting vaccinated was pretty good ig. I'm mad that I didn't get to play as many games as I wanted to this year, but according to Letterboxd, I watched 105 movies in 2021, so I think that's at least a bit impressive.
My mental health took a nosedive it seems, and that's the worst part probably. But even though it doesn't seem likely, let's hope I get better in 2022.
Especially because God of War Ragnarok and Spiderman Across The Spiderverse Part 1 come out in 2022 babyyyyyy can't wait!

This year was... meh? It was kind of a mix of a few really good but short things and a few bad and persistent things.

Good things:
- I got closer to my own friend group and especially two people in particular, who are now probably the most important ones in my life, and met a bunch more good friends on Twitter and Discord.
- I (belatedly) got my first real taste of how fun it is to actually hang out regularly with your friends and travelled on my own for the first time in a while.
- I graduated high school with the highest possible marks, got without any issues into a good university and won a scholarship in the process.
- I turned 18 and got my driving license without too many issues.
- Somehow, neither me nor my family had any run-ins with COVID in the entire year. Close calls, a few, but not actual cases.
- Italy won the Eurovision Song Festival. Hehe.

Bad things:
- My mental health was a rollercoaster: when I wasn't relatively fine or just barely keeping it together I had bouts of intense self-loathing or overwhelming loneliness for one reason or the other.
- I started having motivation struggles in regards to school that carried on for most of the year and started becoming more of a problem recently.
- A certain incident that happened in early September caused a pretty big rift among some members of my friend group which will take a long time to mend.
- I have done absolutely nothing to improve certain less-than-ideal aspects of my lifestyle.

thank you! glad you also found a role that you're enjoying! 💖
not hating our jobs is one of the best things we can do for our mental health IMHO, so it's good to finally be somewhere stable/positive!

It was a real mixed bag that got a lot better near the end. Finishing up high school, along with everything going on before heading off to college was a complete nightmare for me, but once actually making the step towards my future, everything has been much better overall. I was way too busy with life before college, where I was doing full-time high school with a full-time job on top of it all at the same time. Now I am primarily focused on school and my future ahead of me which has brought a lot of burden off of my back. I have also gone from no friends to a pretty sizable friend group at college, which is awesome because I never could really say I had a friend group before this. I'm excited to see where the future takes me and hopefully 2022 is a much better year.
