Not the best Trails game, still solid. Combat took some getting used to, I liked the old turn based style, but the field combat was a breath of fresh air, definitely made the game's combat quicker. Story was pretty good. Overall solid 9/10

I LOVE THIS GAME. Van x Elaine! This is my most favourite pre-built up games, compared to FC, Zero or CS1. The environment looks amazing, interacting with npcs, chatting up with them, never felt like a chore. Looking forward to more 4SPG shenanigans in Calvard.

A very refreshing game in the series. The combat system is really fun, but I feel like it makes for a little too easy game.

The story is mostly good. It is darker than other Trails games, but the ending is a little lackluster. That being said, Falcom succeeds yet again in writing endearing characters for which you care so much that whatever happens, you can't possibly give up on the game.

New favorite of the series until the sequel. Combat is interesting and gives the story and game a new, interesting feel. I also enjoy getting to continue through this saga and still see a lot of character development and world building. Excited to play through Daybreak II when it releases in NA.

Better than Reverie, worse then all Cold Steel games. The last part of game drags on too much.

Some gameplay mechanics were changed mostly for the sake of change. These changes were to the games detriment on higher difficulties. Multiple small features were missing that were staples of the series. Game felt rushed. Final boss had almost every "eff you" mechanic in the book.

Trails series is growing stale. This new game try mix up the formula from a gameplay standpoint, and overall result is good, but I'm very tired by trails games narrative tecnique... with infinite dialogue, incredibly slow storyline carried over between many games and awful pacing

Breath of fresh air, feels like a new beginning for the series.
Always love the beginning of a new arc in Trails because that's when the writers get to flaunt what they do best: Worldbuilding.
No need to worry about world-ending threats or constantly harassed by Ouroboros... just breathing it in, get to know the new characters, the place, by dealing with some local issues as it slowly builds up to climax.

Story: 9.5
+ Love the new main character, Van. Supporting cast are all fantastic and have their moments to shine. Yay for no character bloat, yet.
- Last 5 hours or so are not the best...Falcom needs to sort this out for their future games.

Gameplay: 9
+ The hybrid combat system is very fun, if under-developed, and makes me optimistic about the next installments.
- Falcom need to step up their level design. Linear maps are not fun to explore.

Presentation: 9.5
+ Huge step up in animation from Cold Steel / Reverie. Character animations are way more fluid and the fight scenes are not just using gameplay animations, making it more cinematic.
+ Great music, as always.

Overall, one of the best games in the series.

The cycle repetition felt boring to me, and the finale felt like filler. Aside from that, it was nice as usual.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak is an exciting new start for the series. With a fresh cast of characters joined by a handful of familiar faces, it’s a welcoming point for potential new fans to jump in while also rewarding veteran players for returning. Daybreak’s updated hybrid battle system still has a few kinks to work out with its real-time elements, but enhanced movement options and other impressive tweaks make the turn-based aspects better than ever. Wrap that up in an engaging story full of political drama and a compelling new setting, and Daybreak is exactly what the Trails series needed to reach new heights.
