It's a great game with a good battle system, wonderful visuals, a good soundtrack and a very fluid progression. However, the characters are not that captivating, the game gets a little tiring towards the end and there are achievements in cooperative mode that, in my opinion, don't make sense for this type of game.

No soy el mayor fan de los JRPGs pero Sea of Stars me ha encantado, ese uno de esos juegos en los que se aprecia el cariño, esfuerzo e ilusión que los devs le han puesto.

Es un muy buen juego, la historia es muy decente, con una recta final a nivel de guión brutal, el pixel art es precioso, la banda sonora es genial, el combate está muy bien diseñado, y el diseño de niveles es absolutamente maravilloso, lo mejor que tiene el juego junto al apartado artístico en mi opinión. Bueno y el detalle final tras completar el 100% es absolutamente precioso.

La única pega que le saco al juego es que el ritmo de las 10-15 primeras horas es muy lento, las zonas son muy largas y realmente hay poco progreso en la historia, además hay demasiado combates y aunque esté muy bien diseñado a veces se hace un poco repetitivo. Aún asó lo he completado al 100%. Más allá de eso me parece un juego super disfrutable incluso para los que no son especialmente fans de los RPGs por turnos como yo, además de que no es demasiado complicado para lo frustrante que puedo llegar a ser este género con la dificultad y aun así, el sistema de reliquias permite balancear mucho la dificultad del juego a gusto practicamente completo del jugador.

Sobra decir que si el género te gusta, vas a amar Sea of Stars. Un juegazo, 8.5

Lovely RPG with a nice story and fun characters. Very good world design. Funny dialogue. Doesn't take itself too serious. My favorite part of the game was the engaging combat system. I enjoy turn-based, but of course it can become quite passive. In Sea of Stars you can increase the damage of your attacks by timely pressing on buttons. This makes for a very active turn-based combat which I really liked. I wished the game was only a bit shorter. The cyber world felt like it could maybe have been skipped.

Preface: I'm not, usually, a fan of jRPGs.

That said, Sea of Stars turned out to be one of the most fun experiences and grandest adventures I had in all my years of gaming.

Sea of Stars does a lot to revitalise the stale jRPG formula by adding action elements to its turn-based combat (you can time attacks to increase their damage, a'la Super Mario RPG) and making traversal actually FUN.

The game is fairly linear, but does reward exploration and opens up a little halfway through the game, and then much more towards the end.

I enjoyed the fact that you can finish the game without engaging much with exploration and side content, but completing it and getting the good ending will require you to nearly 100% it - a very nice reward for completionists.

And trust me - you will want to play like a completionist because said content is simply fun. Building up your own village, participating in quizzes, cooking food, fishing or, most importantly, playing WHEELS is a ton of fun and adds a good few hours to the game if you choose to engage with it.

About the only dings I can point out keeping it from achieving perfect score are the writing (which isn't bad, but isn't excellent either) and holding on to some archaic choices like not showing enemies' HP bars by default. Minor gripes keeping the game from perfection, but not keeping it from becoming it one of my all-time favourites.

Really good; great Golden Sun vibes, with the boating too, tells a great story with fun mechanics. Overall tons of care put into the game by the developers, the music is amazing, the characters are rich, it engages you throughout, with fun challenges for completionists!

El juego es muy muy bonito. Los personajes están muy bien. El final normal me ha dejado un poco frio pero el otro lo arregla. Las mecánicas están guapas pero se me queda un poco simple el juego. Una dificultad mas alta puede que hubara estado bien. Hay maneras de subirla pero no son del juego base como tal y me ha parecido un poco raro. Indudablemente lo mejor los gráficos y los personajes.

This game was truly amazing. Its near perfect is one of the first games I picked up and the first ever JRPG I ever played. Its near perfect was such a gentle entrance into a fairly complicated genre, but after the adorable and vibrant graphics, the wonderful story and falling in love with turn based combat I walked away hooked.

The beginning was absolutely great. After 15 hours, however, it becomes noticeably monotonous and repetitive. Unfortunately, I didn't like the reveal after about two thirds of the game at all and I was really put off by it.
I had to motivate myself a lot at the end to finish the game.
A great pity. If the game had been shortened by 10 hours it would have been so much better.

Talvez seja meu jogo de RPG de turno favorito até o momento, é tão bom de se jogar, a história é cativante, as missões secundárias são excelentes, todo lugar tem algo a se coletar e melhorar na build do game, as mecânicas de batalhas são uma mescla do clássico com o inovador, há momentos desafiadores mas no geral o game é casual. Vim direto do Mário RPG para este, e a sensação é sair de um jogo nota 9 para um jogo nota 10, recomendo este game, me faltou apenas 1 conquista relacionada a combater número X de boss com um item específico, não achei que valia a pena depois de fazer o final secreto e a easter egg da equipe de desenvolvimento, creio então que fiz 99,99% do game. RECOMENDO DEMAIS ESTE JOGO nota 10/10.

Key take away: Great story and a game that really respects the players time by allowing to cut out grinding or allowing player to use setting to make the game Hardcore. I really grew attached to the characters and the depth of the game world was surprising and impressive.

The coating may be delicious, with brilliant artstyle and very good music, but Sea of ​​Stars quickly felt pretty empty to me, both story and gameplay-wise, and we know that when it comes to JPRG, one generally aims to compensate for the other. Gameplay here is fun, no doubt about it, but it lacks depth and ends up being particularly repetitive, as it's full of false good ideas trivializing almost everything you can expect from a turn-based RPG (even losing a character on the battlefield doesn't mean anything anymore). As for the story, if not exempt from cuteness, it doesn't fly too high and offers nothing memorable with the exception of one endearing character (among dozens). Level design, if sometimes unclear, is not too bad, but Sabotage definitely chose quantity (variety) over quality and form over substance, which actually applies to a large part of Sea of Stars.

I wrote earlier that Sea of ​​Stars was a disappointment in itself. My human heart and empathy must've died because I couldn't stand Garl and his behavior through the entire game. His heroic deeds just come off as super juvenile and shallow. The vibes and aesthetics are great, it's just the game's likeability depends a lot of how much you like Garl. In my case it's clearly not very much.

Been waiting for time to play this for a while and oh boy did it not disappoint. The story is amazing and the game play will keep you engaged. I even went as far as to get the true ending. With updates coming out and a dlc in spring 2025 definitely pick this game up.

Incredible game. Opened my third eye to the world of Chrono-Trigger inspired RPGs and will definitely return for the new DLC. The rare game that makes it's side content worth getting and rewards the player with a heartfelt ending and goodbye from the Devs.

Art style, music, and general cosy/adventure vibe makes this an experience that's not just fun to play but also beautiful to look at, proving that pixel art will never go out of style.

Esse eu demorei para terminar. Quase 40 horas que me arrastei um pouco. No começo tudo é muito novo e dinâmico. As lutas, as habilidades, os personagens, os cenários, os chefes, tudo novidades que são muito bem apresentadas pela narrativa. Conforme o tempo de gameplay avança tudo vai se tornando mais maçante, a novidade vira padrão. Nada mais de novo é apresentado na gameplay, somente personagens novos que talvez você nem utilize. Depois das 25h, 30h toda a ação tornou-se repetitiva, nem os combos novos que você encontra deixam mais tão divertida. Você skippa todos os bichinhos do mapa para tentar terminar as longas batalhas de turno que se tornaram mais do mesmo.
Se esse jogo tivesse no máximo 15h a 17h seria perfeito, mais que isso cansou.

Honestly this game is perfection.
I played only the original ending till now, but the story has been so amazing, I've laughed but I've also cried my eyes out at some point. The world though, it's beautiful but not really made for exploring, which I think is a shame... can't wait for the DLC content though! Can't wait to turn back to this game after a while and experience the extra containt and the alternate ending.

The game is just 'meh'.

Storyline is very linear and predictable, the developers forces you to like the characters like you or not making some awkward moments sometimes (in some occasions I felt embarrassed for them). The combat is boring as after a few encounters you already mastered that and in the late game it doesn't add any value to the mechanics anymore specially when you want to get rid of the fight and continue playing.

The art is good, really good, but it doesn't hold for the gameplay.

Really great game. Amazing art, fun gameplay, interesting storyline and characters, solid soundtrack... really everything you want from an RPG. I wish there was a little more depth/greater moveset in the combat. One of your main attacks from beginning to end is just hold a button down for a couple seconds. But still fun!
