The open world is improved quite a bit from the base game. A ton more variety and no more 50 foxes to follow or 50 mongol camps. But it's still nothing special and is carried by the amazing visuals. I'm playing this after 2 years and it's really odd that they don't teach you how to play at the beginning. I was really lost and it took a while to re-learn controls. Story was great, doesn't drag like the base game. It really benefited being a much more personal story.Updated 1.5 Months Ago

Iki Island is a fun new area to discover. I was surprised to see that the DLC actually introduced new gameplay elements too, and new collectables. I would definitely recommend it if you enjoyed the main game like I did. It's a good way to get to know a bit more about our main protagonist Jin Sakai and his family.Updated 2 Months Ago

Built on the amazing foundation of the base game, but a bit more disappointing in certain aspects. My main problem was with the main antagonist herself "Eagle". I'll be direct and just say that she was lame. Her whole shtick is drugging you with her mushroom tea and then you having visions for days on end. It was a cool little detail at first, but after seeing her dozens of times over and over it became more annoying than anything. Her final fight was not too exciting as well. She has a bunch of cheap fast moves that she pulls on you that you have to adapt to (the sun reflection of the water kept blinding me as well).
Small hiccups like Mongols attacking a peasant once I reached Saru island, causing me to fail some objective, but after respawning the Mongols disappeared.
Overall very good DLC, and you should like it if you liked the base game. Although the difficulty of enemies is ramped up, and you will sometimes feel swarmed by them.

As good as the base game, but I was plagued by an annoying audio bug that was fixed by using headphones and setting sound to stereo rather than surround. Not a perfect fix however as it still very rarely happened, besides being forced to use headphones continuously.Updated 3 Months Ago

It gave some more closure to Jin's story, regarding his past. The map is pretty small so it doesnt take long to 100% at all. Took me 9 hrs~ to beat it and get all trophies.I rly liked this dlc, felt like a good expansion. 100% worth playing if you want more of ghost of tsushima.

Gorgeous setting, though it had a bit too much empty space. Combat gets a bit repetitive, but the animal sanctuaries are a wonderful little reprieve. The story works well to delve into moral complexity with Jin facing his family legacy. I do wish there had been more development with the Mongols though.

This story didn't captivate me as much as the main story did, but it's enough for what it is. The gameplay isn't really different minus a few new abilities, but I was pleasantly surprised by what they added.Overall, this DLC is cool. I was starting to feel a little burnout while playing it because I immediately started it after finishing the main story, but it was still a fun time. If Ghost of Tsushima is a cupcake, this is the cherry on top of it.

Played this just now despite playing the main game during launch. The dlc was more of the same which is not a bad thing. The story was pretty good and I like the added mini games like the flute mechanic. Helps explain a bit of Jin’s backstory. It was a good length for a dlc. Nothing exceptional but a welcome addition.Updated 6.5 Months Ago

I still love this game. The story was a hair weaker but that's only because the base game was SO good. The music was a step up, it was noticeably good instead of "oh yeah I heard it in the background and can pick out a few melodies." After clearing the story the Mongol population on the island genuinely decreased instead of "oh man, we beat the Mongols!" and then having Mongol encounters be essentially, if not identically, as frequent. The archery minigame was SO fun, the first one kicked my ASS lowkey. The concentration charm you get makes it way easier as time goes on because the more Archery Challenges you do the longer you can focus, with a final increase of 2.4 seconds. The first one was still doable, but MAN it was tough! The new hook functionality was neat but nothing particularly mind-blowing. It's a good setting, and still geographically accurate too!God I love this game.

Bland. Short 3-4 hour story, the visions are more annoying than anything, and the gameplay is still the same.Nothing is really added with DLC except for "more content."
Still early PS3 style gameplay (No limb specific hit detection, basic parry/2 button attack combo's, and linear climbing sections) but in a gorgeous world with lots of unique environments.
Disappointing as the base game was so great, which shows you how important story is.
It really could use some of the climbing mechanics that you see in Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Too many glitched rocks that were not meant to be "skyrimed" so it really forces you in set linear paths.

One of the few games I've full completed.Good combat system, picturesque locations, good main story and side missions.
Immersiveness and presentation of "traditional" elements of open world games in an unconventional way.
I can't say that the full completion of the game was not tedious, but most of the tasks are quite simple, short and most of the time curious.
Still, if I could advise myself in advance, then save time and only go through the main story and allies quests.

This was a great expansion to the original game. It felt in line with the story they were telling, and expanded on the game's lore. It still suffers from being overwhelmingly okay, though. With the gameplay feeling repetitive and boring once you get into the swing of things. And then it becomes a fairly straightforward find-things-on-the-map game. It is executed incredibly well, but after some time with the game again, I'm not terribly excited about playing a sequel.Updated 1.5 Years Ago

More of GoT, not a bad thing at all. Didn't take too long to get back into. The story was intriguing and a cool way to explore and absolve Jin's past. Shame we don't see anything about his mother, but makes sense at the same time. The landscape is just as beautiful with some real gems, like the glowing monkey river area.
Couple new skills which is always nice, glad they don't overdo it.
Not much else to say, very very fun. Except forcing me to play legends to complete everything as I was waiting on that (trophy and in game).

I liked the Arkham Knight poison they put through the story line with the main protagonist. The island of iki was beautiful as I expected. The story beats were a little bit predictable in some parts. The updated gameplay from the original was a good step up, but Its easy to still blow through enemies with ghost abilities on normal.Updated 2 Years Ago

Awesome story content for Jin. It’s a closure for me after beating the main game. Challenging enemy as well as final boss. A bit underwhelming to be honest, after playing Legends for a while, I thought the final boss is going to be as exciting as in Legends story mode. But overall, a nice extra experience for GoT.

Loved it, absolutely loved it. This is not a DLC it’s essential to understand Jin’s backstory and his past and his future too. EXCELLENTLY DONE!PS: This is my review after 100% everything in the island with regards to trophies. Do not just do the main story you’ll lose 60% of your experience I had. Explore the island and stories before beating the final boss! So MUCH JOY! Great story telling!

Iki Island is a gorgeous expansion that brings cool new characters, amazing visuals and down right brutal combat. Sucker Punch nailed the expansion for the base game. It was just enough to hold players over until we see that sequel. Pros:
- More enemy variety
- Combat encounters are harder
- New cast of charming characters
- Locked 60 FPS with PS5 upgrade
- Visually stunning
- New horse combat
- CATS, MONKEYS AND DEERS
- Cool flute mechanic with duelsense motion controls
- Exploring Jins past life as a child
Cons:
- The Island itself did not feel different enough from Tsushima
- No upgrade to the quest design. basically the same as the main game
- Very Very short, Can run through the main story in 5-6 hours
- Open world activities all basically feel interchangeable and does not add much variety

This review is only for the Iki island expansion. I love the main Ghost game! It’s my #10 on the list of top games of all time! Iki island was enjoyable. It did add to the story of the Ghost. The main story was pretty good. The Eagle was a good enemy- not as good as Khan, but pretty good. The graphics and frame rate on the PS5 are exceptional! Perhaps the most beautiful game of all time. On the con side- this was pretty short at only about 5 hours for the main story. There were a few side quests- but they weren’t all that great. But I guess about as good as the main game. Overall I’m glad I played it. But with it’s short length I’m not sure it justifies the price. Will look forward to whenever a full sequel comes out.Updated 3.5 Years Ago
