Sometimes we have gold and we don't even know it. And a select few games we have could be considered EXTREMELY valuable that we want to keep. What are some of the most valuable/rare/expensive games that you own? This isn't about bragging, it's more about keeping the stuff you love close to your heart and trust me, there's lots I keep close to my heart. And if you had any valuable games in the past, did you sell or lose them? Does it pain you to see that it's hard to find or the price has gone up?

By far the most valuable game in my collection at a whopping CDN $193.21 according to PriceCharting is Twilight Princess for the Gamecube. I got this for $50 when EB Games was still selling Gamecube games. I've played it time and again but never have I beaten it but hopefully next year I'll be able to beat it. It's CIB, with manual and disc. The great thing about Gamecube discs is that they always seem super durable no matter what scratches or scuffs come on them, so despite this one looking rough the disc still plays! Yay!
A lot of the most valuable games I have are mainly Gamecube titles. Mario Party 4-7, Mario Kart: Double Dash, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Pikmin 2, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and Smash Bros Melee are the others I have that cost above $75 in terms of retro. The only other game I can say is valuable that is not a retro Nintendo Game or Modern Game is Folklore for PS3. I got it for about $25 years ago, but the price shot up then shot way back down again so it's not as valuable as say Mario Party 6.
I love keeping these games that are super valuable since they mean a lot to who I am as a person. Games like Melee and Mario Party 7 shaped me and I'm very grateful for them and I will never EVER sell them. I just can't. They're like family to me.
I unfortunately lost some Valuable games including Super Princess Peach which really sucks. I did sell Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete in the very nice box it came in on Playstation. I was probably not going to get to it for a long time but thankfully, I'm okay with that. The two Lunar Playstation games are getting re-released next year anyways, so I'm happy about that and I can get them more easily.
Shockingly, my friend had a cartridge of EVO: Search for Eden on SNES and sold it. Being a rare game, they probably got a good deal on it, but they mainly sold it because they didn't really enjoy the game too much which is understandable.
Looking forward to seeing what people bring to the table with this thread!

I mostly emulate old games now but there are some rare games I own but I'm not sure if they fetch a high price but there are a couple that cost a little more than your usual asking price to get for how old they are:
Silent Hill 2-4
Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 and Burst Limit
Timesplitters 2
Ghost in the Shell Standalone Complex(2004)
Deadpool(2013)
X-Men Origins Wolverine
House of the Dead Overkill Extended Cut
Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom
Goldeneye Reloaded
Alpha Protocal
Katamari Forever
Tenchu Wrath of Heaven
Spider-Man 2(PS2)
Ratchet and Clank HD Collection
Chronicles of Riddick Assault on Dark Athena
Knight's Contract(going to sell this one pretty soon for how bad it is, only a matter of when)
Tomb Raider Trilogy(PS3)
Driver San Franciso
I usually try to keep all the games on physical I have enjoyed over the years even ones I kind of liked, anything I don't like I sell right away.

My 5 most expensive games are:
Chibi-Robo ($200)
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance ($200)
A CIB Seaman mic bundle ($180)
Tomodachi Life ($170)
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn ($100)
I got Chibi-Robo back in 2018 for $60 which I thought was a lot but I really wanted it... it's a good thing I did
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance I bought for around $180 earlier this year as a treat since I had been saving a lot of money buying significantly less games than usual and it was worth every penny, this game is great.
I randomly found the Seaman mic bundle at a game store and I bought it because I knew it was the weird fish game. I got it for around $60 which I thought was a fair price for a somewhat rare game, and then I looked it up and realized this was a much rarer version so that was a happy accident.
Tomodachi Life was what made me get a 3DS back in 2016 and I got it for around $20-$30. It was sitting at around $80 for the past year but it suddenly spiked this week and I couldn't tell you why.
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn I managed to find for a large discount because someone or something went to town on the case, but the artwork was fine so I just swapped the case out with a different Wii game. Even with the discounted price though, I still think this wasn't worth the money. It's probably one of my least favorite games in the series.

Off the top of my head, I have a sealed copy of Cubivore for the GameCube in my collection. According to eBay, that's worth nearly a grand.
I also sold my sealed copies of Mega Man Battle Network 2, 4, and 6 a few months ago and made over $1100.

It's not something I pay attention to, but doing some looking up on things off the top of my head:
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (CIB)
Twilight Princess (CIB)
Link's Awakening DX (CIB)
Oracle of Ages (CIB)
Sadly I don't have most of my GBA boxes anymore or CIB Fire Emblem Sacred Stones would be a decent amount too, not that I would ever want to sell it anyway.

Owned these CIB since around their original NA release date way back when -
SNES: Mega Man 7, Kirby's Dream Land 3
SAT: Die Hard Arcade, X-Men vs Street Fighter [4M RAM bundle]
PS: Tales of Destiny, Xenogears, Team Buddies, Rival Schools
DC: Cannon Spike, Tech Romancer
PS2: Silent HIll 2, Fatal Frame 3
GC: Gotcha Force, Cubivore
The past decade I picked up Fray CD: Xak Gaiden on TCD for under fifty bucks that seem to have went up as well.

My most prized (game) possessions, Pokemon Platinum (~$100), and a 25th anniversary DSi XL. Both of these items have deep sentimental value for me, I grew up playing Pokemon and other DS games on this console. My collection is pretty modest, Pokemon Platinum is pretty much the only rare game that I own, the only other one that comes close is a copy of Mario Kart Wii with a set of wheels which are somewhat sought after. Fun stuff!

I'd say the rarest game in my collection is Flower, Sun, and Rain for the Nintendo DS. I started playing The Silver Case on Steam months ago, but I have it on hold. I 'ought to pick it up again so I can get to the sequel/half-sequel?

Probably Twilight Princess HD, followed by Mario Kart Double Dash

According to PriceCharting, my two most "valued" games are these two sealed Zelda games in Spanish for the PAL region.

I suppose it’s Xenosaga III. I almost got the lenticular version near release day but ended up waiting and got the standard. No hard feelings about it as I was only interested in the game.

I have very few physical copies of games, but some digital releases can be considered rare if they're pulled from all storefronts, I guess.
The rarest digital release I have is probably Race Driver GRID: Ultimate Edition, there's a fun story behind it.
The original 2008 GRID is a classic in the racing genre, but just like a lot of older racing titles, it got de-listed from digital stores due to licensing issues. However, an obscure store of DRM-free digital games, called "ZOOM Platform" (not to be confused with the video-conferencing tool, Zoom) just kept selling it.
IIRC someone had reached out to them to ask what the deal was, and they responded by saying "well, EA never sent us any letters, so we'll just keep selling the game."
In March 2023, they even released an update, improving compatibility with Windows 10, and adding in extra content, which was previously console-exclusive DLC, calling it "Ultimate Edition".
Within that same month, EA finally told them to de-list the game. But I managed to grab and download a copy before this happened, which I'm pretty happy about.

Digitally, for me, it's probably the original version of Trackmania United from 2006, which is rare because Starforce DRM made it unplayable but I found a patch somewhere and it was replaced by United Forever in 2008 and it was made free for people who owned the original. The original has a way cooler menu but I stick with United Forever for the multiplayer and TM Exchange.
It's my rarest but not sure if its rare.

As of right now the most expensive thing in my collection is the Tmnt shredder revenge radical edition that LRG was selling a while back. Had to get it since I’m a big ninja turtle fan. Worth $178 cib for now.
