A superb ending the Witcher trilogy in this expansion. The expansion has a lot of content for the money, and it's all as high quality as the base game or better. The Toussaint area of this expansion is also beautiful, really shines in a way that the base game doesn't thanks to its drab setting. Main story is good, not quite as good as Hearts of Stone but it serves the vehicle of Geralt's 'retirement' well. CDPR very respectfully crafts a final quest for Geralt and allows him to settle down to a nice life with his love.Updated 1 Month Ago

The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine - Review (100/100)Blood and Wine, the final expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is the perfect farewell to Geralt of Rivia. It’s not just an expansion—it’s a love letter to the fans and a culmination of everything that makes the series great. With a vibrant new world, a deeply personal story, and countless hours of fresh content, Blood and Wine isn’t just an add-on; it feels like a full game in its own right.
The Pros:
A Vibrant New World:
The land of Toussaint is a stark contrast to the war-torn regions of the base game. It’s a realm of vibrant colors, rolling vineyards, and picturesque castles, all steeped in a fairy-tale aesthetic. Yet beneath its idyllic surface lies a dark underbelly, creating a compelling dichotomy that keeps you invested. Every corner of Toussaint feels alive, with unique sights and secrets to discover.
An Epic, Personal Story:
The narrative centers on Geralt’s investigation into a string of murders tied to a deadly beast. It’s a tale of betrayal, redemption, and the monstrous nature of both humans and vampires. The story’s moral complexity and emotional depth rival the main game, with choices that feel weighty and impactful. The relationship between Geralt and his old friend, Regis, adds a heartfelt layer to the tale, giving long-time fans even more to savor.
Memorable Characters:
Regis, the charming higher vampire, steals the show with his wisdom, wit, and loyalty. Opposite him, Dettlaff is a tragic antagonist whose motivations blur the line between villainy and virtue. Toussaint’s Duchess Anna Henrietta is equally captivating, embodying the grandeur and vulnerability of her kingdom.
Unparalleled Side Content:
Blood and Wine is packed with some of the best side quests in the series. From humorous escapades, like rescuing a goose with a secret, to darker tales of cursed knights, every quest feels handcrafted. The new Witcher contracts and treasure hunts are equally engaging, offering unique challenges and rewards.
A Wealth of New Features:
The expansion introduces the Corvo Bianco vineyard, a fully upgradeable home for Geralt, giving players a tangible reward for their efforts. The Grandmaster armor sets provide not only aesthetic appeal but also gameplay benefits, allowing deeper customization of Geralt’s build. The addition of mutations expands the skill system, offering new ways to experiment with combat and abilities.
Challenging New Enemies:
The expansion pits you against terrifying new foes, from giant centipedes to vampire bruxae. These enemies are not just visually impressive but also demand new strategies to defeat, keeping combat fresh and engaging.
Visual and Artistic Brilliance:
The art direction in Blood and Wine is stunning, with sun-soaked vineyards, grand festivals, and chilling vampire lairs. Toussaint feels like a living painting, full of detail and charm. Combined with the dynamic lighting and lush color palette, it’s a feast for the eyes.
Phenomenal Soundtrack:
The music in Blood and Wine perfectly captures the whimsical yet ominous tone of Toussaint. It enhances every moment, whether you’re exploring the countryside or battling a fearsome beast.
The Cons
None. There are minor bugs and occasional pacing issues, but they’re so negligible that they hardly detract from the experience.
Final Thoughts
Blood and Wine is the perfect send-off for Geralt of Rivia. It’s a stunning expansion that offers a heartfelt goodbye to one of gaming’s most beloved characters, while also delivering a rich and fulfilling experience for players. Toussaint is a marvel to explore, the story is deeply engaging, and the gameplay refinements make it an absolute joy to play.
Final Verdict: 100/100. A masterpiece that cements The Witcher 3 as one of the greatest games of all time, offering a breathtaking conclusion to Geralt’s legendary journey.

This is the best DLC I have ever played. While some side quests are boring and repetitive, it still manages to be just as, if not more entertaining, than the base game. I love Toussaint and love the final quest. Fighting a higher vampire as a final boss was an insanely fun experience.Updated 4.5 Months Ago

An excellent DLC.This DLC brings an entire new zone to the game. The sheer amount of content you get in this new zone is fantastic. The quests are fun, the story is really good and the characters are great. The new skill system added is really cool, but it would have been better if it was added in the base game instead. I wish I got more time to explore the new skill system before the DLC ended.

After it took me only a short time from heart of stone to blood and wine ( ok well... 4 years to be exact), I Finally got myself to sit down and play blood and wine, and holy crap I have no idea why it took me so god damn long to play this near perfect expansion! This expansion can easily be considered Witcher 3.5, and it would be hard for me to see you not love this expansion if you also loved the base game as well alongside heart of stone, with many aspects of the game just nailing the same feeling I had with the base game while being set in a much more high fantasy setting.Story
Very amazing story, while I do think Heart of Stone's story is a tad bit better, it is still a story I will remember down the line with the grey line between vampires and humans, the friendship with Regis, and the connection between the sisters, while trying to consider who is the lesser evil, the vampire who is killing many for one girl, or the girl who is killing many for a personal rivalry. While it starts off as simple as can be with Geralt being contracted to kill a mysterious monster, it quickly turns into a much more complex story that has even Geralt question his moral compass as he further solves the mystery. Even with the best possible ending, it is impossible to have the pure fairy tale ending where everyone's problems are magically solved, someone has to take the noble sacrifice for those they don't even know. There are so many amazing questlines in this game, and even apart from the really amazing main questline like one where you enter a fairy tale, even the side quests are just as amazing as well, with great writing and even more humorous questlines like Geralt trying to deposit from a bank where he is declared dead. I love Heart of Stone, and I do prefer that expansion's main questline, but the one thing it was missing were the amazing sidequests that witcher 3 is easily known for, and blood and wine not only delivers but exceeds with some quests as well. I didn't do ALL the side quests as some were obviously there for power gain and would require more work than I would like, but I did the ones with story content as reward and I loved them all.
Characters
Easily some of my favorite. Base game of course had the best overall characters, Heart of stone had my favorite antagonist, but Blood and Wine had some of my favorite companions alongside Regis and the relation between the Anna and the sister. Regis especially my GOD did I love his character, as while he was a friend to Geralt, he also tried his damn to protect his other friend as well as a way to have a peaceful resolution, but no matter what he did, there are no fairy tale endings in this universe, and what regis did to help those he doesn't even know will forever be burned into my memory. The other characters as well were all just fantastic, and the only real complaint I would have is that I wish the main antagonist vampire would had been a bit more fleshed out, even though he has a fantastic backstory and character development, I feel like maybe a couple more hours with him would had fleshed him out to the same level as Gaunter O'Dimm was in heart of stone. Overall were an amazing addition to blood and wine, and easily had way more memorable characters in comparison, just not THE memorable character antagonist like mentioned. Lastly The story with Anna was just wonderful, and even if the ending splits depending on what you choose, the ending I got was the one I am very much satisfied with. Even her captain, side quest characters, other higher vampires and such were written so well, and I just hope witcher 4 has the same level of writing that witcher 3 and ALL of the expansions had previous.
Gameplay
Blood and Wine adds some new mechanics, mainly the usage of greater mutagens to utilize the new mutation system. The new system does change a ton for the build I was running, mainly when I grinded to get the freezing aard upgrade, which switched up how I played the game a bit. Apart from that the gameplay stayed the same, but of course I always loved more endgame witcher combat as that is when you not only start to utilize the upgrades more, but also utilize the potions, bombs and such which were essential when I played on Death March difficulty. Gameplay is still very strong for me from this game, and blood and wine improved it a ton as well. The new emphasis on vampires as well made the new encounters a ton of fun as well. I know people criticize the combat a ton for saying its too mashy, but I feel like if you play on the much easier difficulties is when you face that problem, but raise the difficulty much higher, you suddenly realize you can't just march head first into battles and actually require pre preparing and proper magic usage to deal with the harder fights in the game. Overall the gameplay is still super fun to play through, with of course some minor gripes I have with it, mainly lock on camera and the INSANE damage scaling of death march.

Wonderful expansion. This could honestly hold up as it's own game if you didn't compare it to the length of the base game. Fairy tale land toward the end was an absolute blast to play. Detlaff (vampire final boss at the end) was a good challenge, definitely the hardest boss in the game, including base game + both expansions.Updated 1 Year Ago

Toussaint is a breath of fresh air after the oppressive ambience of Redania in HoS, and is the perfect setting for the conclusion of the tale of Geralt of Rivia. The story is great and features some amazing characters, as is the norm for the Witcher franchise, and the gameplay upgrades in the forms of Mutations, the Grandmaster armors and the new monsters are greatly appreciated. The best part though, is the ending. If you romance Yennefer, the ending is the perfect conclusion to both The Witcher 3 and the books, probably my favourite ending of any game just because of the emotional attachment I have to these characters. Much better than the stills you get at the end of the base game.

A gorgeous new area to explore that offers a drastic color change then the rough and gray atmosphere Geralt is used too from the main game. Good change of scenery and a great epilogue for Geralt. Starts off a little eh, before it begins to pick up. Certain enemy types got quite tedious, and in general doesn’t have the level of polish of Hearts of Stone, but certainly still vindicates its existence.Updated 2 Years Ago

This second add-on is a huge, magnificent epilog to the main Witcher 3 game. Gerald is called to Toussaint to hunt a monster. Toussaint with its capital Beauclair is a fairytale like region. A medieval land as it only ever existed in fables, tales, and romantic stories. Heavily inspired from Venice and rural Italy it is overwhelmingly picturesque. His client is Anna Henrietta. The ruler over entire Toussaint. His contract leads him from one minor boss fight to another. Each with its own unique fighting style. The story unravels slowly with many surprises and memorable characters along the way.
The add-on knows to surprise and amaze constantly. Be it by riding a unicorn or fighting a giant in the clouds. It is clear how much the developers enjoyed telling the stories and I’m sure nobody will be able to escape the charm of Toussaint and its adventures.

As always from cd project red all there games and dlc our worth the price of admission. especially considering this DLC has the content and value of a full released game and is half the price of it is all the more of a reason to pay the price of admission. The story and characters were complex and multi-dimensional and really make you feel conected, even sympathetic to the characters. While i wasn't as connected to the characters as those in heart of stone and will say that what was offered is still capable of creating a compeling and interesting mystery story.
In terms of gameplay. Not much different from anything else in withcer 3 but thats to be expected especially for a DLC

Another perfect score for The Witcher 3. This DLC takes place in Toussaint, a beautiful new area to explore filled with new (challenging) enemies. Toussaint gave me Southern Europe feels, and I loved exploring everything on foot. There are quite a lot of side quests, which require you to go around the map, which I also really enjoyed.
The story once again is shocking. I'm incredibly happy with my ending (I didn't use a guide), and the ending of the Witcher 3 combined with this one gave me all the feels.
I'm sad I have finished this game, but it was such a joy to play.

This DLC was more like an Ubisoft open world game, where you have to complete x challenges for each quest. The story was good, better than the main game. I took the bad ending path, which felt more emotional than the other 2 endings. I wanted the happily ever after ending, but it seemed bland. The dettlaff boss fight was very very tough. It felt unfair even. A single hit by a storm of bats will kill you? Don't know such mechanics exist in games. All in all, a decent finish to a very long game.Updated 4.5 Years Ago

-CPR has a great habit of making game altering decisions happen in character conversations. The fate of the two sisters is ultimately determined by how you converse with Syanna.- Lots of these important conversations are treated like tests of how well you have been paying attention. The most obvious— the most straightforward decisions often leads to the worst ending. Other games teach you mechanics and test your knowledge latter. The Witcher shows you characters and their motives and lets you interpret them. It's not all perfect. There is no a priori method of deducing some of the things you are supposed to do to get the best ending. But it usually comes down to doing an optional objective.
- The whole build up to learn that Rhea and Syanna where the same person was great. Along with the fact that you pretty much figure it out at the dinner with the Duchess, Regis, Detlaf, and the other vampire lady. Pretty tense to say the least.
-I like the detail added to random vendors in Toussaint; less repeated models and voice talent, more unique intro dialogue, and varied surroundings that fit for the type of vendor. A herbalist lethargically greeted Geralt with poor herb recommendations. Geralt promptly flexed his greenery expertise to the surprise of the lady. They discuss where he learned such knowledge in a nice little exchange that goes beyond the average 'show me your wares' of regular. There's even an extra dialogue option that lets Geralt convey that he meant no offence. The base game rarely had this level of polish on random NPCs.

An exceptional DLC/Expansion to an absolutely amazing game. The amount of content in this expansion is pretty vast, adding an entirely new map with plenty of new quests to complete. The story is pretty long and definitely has its twist and turns throughout. My favorite part was definitely the reiteration of the story book tales when you enter the magical tome. My only two complaints would have to be the simplicity and lack of content when it came to building your own estate. Also I used almost the same equipment from the Vanilla playthrough all the way through, and didn't really find all that much good stuff. Besides those two small things though everything else was outstanding.Updated 4.5 Years Ago
