This is a fantastic expansion that's as good as anything in the base game. This is longer than most FPS campaigns even if you just mainline it, while telling a fantastic story and giving some great new upgrades. The new leads of Idris Elba, the president, and SoMi anchor the story and I loved learning about all of them and their relationships. Idris really steals the show here and is a worthy follow-up to Keanu, plus he contributed some awesome songs. The missions are all pretty good and offer a wide variety between shootouts, dinner parties, and even a horror level at the end. I don't have a ton to say here. If you want more Cyberpunk, it's a no brainer and definitely justifies the $30 price but it won't totally overhaul your opinion of Cyberpunk.
-- 2.0 Notes --
I hadn't played this since the 2.0 upgrade and WOW they changed this a lot. The perk system and cyberware have been massively overhauled. It's certainly better, especially cyberware which I was constantly upgrading, but I still feel like this system is excessively complicated. It took me a couple hours to separate the wheat from the chaff and I eventually fully redid my build. Even once you know what you're doing, there's still far too much tedious inventory management, disassembling loot and then using the resources to craft higher resources. The beefed up Cyberware also means you need to visit a rip-doctor a lot more... The upgrade systems here are just excessively time-consuming.

The best parts are all pretty much towards the end for me, what is there is strong. 89%Pros:
Any pro from the main game applies too
Love the endings for different reasons
Story and Performances
Reasonable price for content
I like how doing this can lead to new dialogue options for the base game
Better final missions over what the base game has for every route
Mixed:
They somewhat fixed my issue with the repetitive nature of gigs, these being more story focused here, but then the story was pretty much the same in every single one so it looped around to being repetitive still.
Cons:
Same cons from base game apply here
Pacing is a bit off though, feels quite back loaded when it comes to actual missions.

I’m going to echo what pretty much everyone else says and has said about this. It’s essentially one of the best DLCs ever created. I have no doubts or reservations making that statement. It truly is that good.It really does feel like CDPR was like, “Hey everyone, this is the caliber of gameplay and storytelling we wanted to do for the main game. If we were given the proper amount of time and not forced to push the game out.”
Dogtown feels unique from the rest of the city. It’s a small area but is brimming with detail and vibes and feels alive. The story is amazing and has by far the best main missions in the entire game. The boss battles are challenging and epic. And the final mission is absolutely incredible.
Even the 10 new gigs from Hands are all fully fleshed out experiences. Much different from gigs in the main game that usually consist of going into a building and killing a dude and leaving. Each gig here has an an actual story and are all unique and interesting. I will say the only thing about them is A LOT of them involve stealth and they all kind of have similar endings where a scenario of comes up where you realize you didn’t know the whole story and now have to choose sides. Almost every single gig is like that and feels a little repetitive.
Overall though, Phantom Liberty is preem content that puts an exclamation point on the redemptive arc that is Cyberpunk 2077. Any choom, corpo, or gonk would be stupid not to play this!

This expansion hit with me the same way the base game did... I have fun playing the game & I find the setting and characters intriguing, but somehow, none of it really sticks with me. For some reason, the game isn't able to convey the plot in a way that is memorable to me. I often find myself doing things without really understanding the reasons or the implications. I don't know if the problem is with the game or my attention span. That said, I was willing to spend a ton of time playing -- I completed almost every single sidequest and gig.Updated 1 Month Ago

If one previously enjoyed the main game, this serves as great additional content. Overall writing and level design is strong, combat is much the same from the base game. To me did feel like it dragged a little bit on occassion, and the overall spy based theme of the expansion is not really my cup of tea.Updated 1 Month Ago

No idea about how long it took me to beat it. Was at 43 hours on Steam before starting the game again. At 87 on completion of the DLC.10/10 free. Game was hardly a DLC. Could go crazy as a standalone. Dogtown was massive. Cool place. Liked the lore behind it and its start. Liked all the small things like the security zone to enter via vehicle, the massive football stadium base for Hansen, the tie-ins with the main story. Tons of extra side content that I think I mostly completed. Completed every sidequest available to me before wrapping it up. Did most Mr. Hands gigs as well.
Story missions felt really cinematic while also being very interactable. Very cool premises for the missions that were unlike most I remember from the main story. Fuck that robot 'Alien' shit at the end though (it was cool tho). I loved being given options that clearly defined a path, and then having what felt like the whole story go down that path. Choices made should show themselves eventually. I killed Hansen, uh oh gotta find a new leader for Dogtown. Pick the coin over the oath with Myers at the beginning, V's got the coin in the final scene.
The story had me giga engaged. I was not expecting to really get into it that much, since I kinda jumped back into the game and just went straight into things. I initially was sus of So Mi, then fucked with Myers when I met her. Quickly trusted So Mi later. Immediately fucked with Reed when he showed up, but started to feeling weird about So Mi when we found out she went behind V and everyone's back to make a deal with Hansen. I was like "fuck it I'm trusting Reed. So Mi two-timed everyone, that's inexcusable". I had a thought in the BARGHEST stadium base, "If the game forces me to pick between Reed or So Mi, I'm picking Reed", and then almost immediately I had to make a decision. I instantly kinda went "fuck" but felt okay about my decision. Shortly after though, I was like "damn I fucked up" and started to piece things together (I think?) that they just wanted to get So Mi to use her, and I should've just sided with her from the beginning.
Would things have changed if I did? The ending felt so thought-out and well-constructed that it's hard to imagine there's a different way for the story to go. What happens if you go with So Mi's plan instead of Reed's? Either way, I realized I fucked up and ended up trusting So Mi once I got in the Militech Cynosure base, and just tried to save her. Ultimately killed her at her wishes, because I didn't want to send her back to the FIA, and everyone hated me (Reed kinda understood but Myers fuming).
Voice acting incredible. Idris don't miss obviously, but everyone else killed it too. So Mi at the end was crazy good, had me kinda close to tearing up.
2.0 and the DLC saved this game gd this shit is nice. Reddit nerds saying this is the best DLC of all time were not far off. It's really good and I'm glad I played it. I'll eventually learn all the other paths of the DLC, but wanna watch Moon play it first I think. It would blow my mind if there are major differences from my playthrough though.
10/10 as a DLC. Always love not knowing what the fuck is going on and who to trust. Had me pausing and theorycrafting all the time. Johnny being meaningful was great as well. Good shit peak peak peak not glazing.
UPDATE: just checked Steam achievements. Apparently, I went with the least popular ending POOOOOOOG!
- 3.2% "Fulfill Songbird's request."
- 4.3% "Refuse Songbird's request."
- 4.9% "Take Songbird home."
- 8.0% "Take Songbird to the stars."
Idk what any of these other ones mean but I like my decision. I should've trusted her from the start (didn't know about Cynosure and that she was serious when she said she's just like V), but I like that I gave her a good ending (I think right cope).

Phantom Liberty is an outstanding addition to Cyberpunk 2077, and it's honestly the game everyone wanted when Cyberpunk debuted. It seamlessly blends with the base game while delivering a refined and impactful experience. The star-studded performances, mature storytelling, and visual beauty contribute to an immersive journey through the neon-soaked streets of Night City. With a narrative that tugs at the heartstrings and gameplay that keeps players on the edge, Phantom Liberty earns a well-deserved 9/10. This DLC pulls players back into the Cyberpunk world and leaves them yearning for more adventures in the captivating and ever-evolving cybernetic landscape.Updated 1.5 Months Ago

I heard this dlc was good but damn.... It really is better than the base game. The story is just exceptionally written, a spy thriller story with so much moral ambiguity (just like the base game). The gameplay surprised me a lot. It's not just shooting or driving but some of these action segments are insane. Don't want to spoil anything but any path you take is just as crazy. To add more onto the gameplay, all the new features added after the update like different skill trees, vehicle combat complement so well. It's crazy that they omitted a lot of these at launch, but better late than never. Visually it's the same, just way more polished (since launch) and no bugs. The soundtrack is also great and so fitting. The final credits song hit me differently. It can fit in any Bond movie and, listening to that after watching all the tragic endings, is an experience. My only nitpick (also in the base game), is the VA and the dialogue for V. I didn't like it but also didn't care much since every other character is more integral.
If SOTE can get nominated for GOTY, this easily should've.

Phantom Liberty is the second best expansion I have ever played, the first one being from the same developers and being Blood and Wine. I might even say that the story of Phantom Liberty is better than the base game's, especially when it comes to how impactful the choices you take during the main quest are, with completely different paths to reach an ending both based on your choices and your playstyle (as in the base game). The Bondesque tone of the story is made clear as soon as you clear the expansion's prologue, dropping you in a spy game where you have to choose whose truth is the one from you, Songbird's or Reed's. Will you do what you're ordered or will you follow what you think is right? The way the story is structured also allows for a slowly and constant understanding of the situation all the characters you encounter are in, what happened to them in the past, their relationships with one another, slowly building to the grand finale, one of the most action packed scenes I have ever seen in any piece of media I have consumed. The good thing about Cyberpunk, which is carried along in this dlc, is the fact that there are no true good or evil choices, just choices that are closer to your idea, the player's, of what is best for those who surround you and yourself. And the same goes for the characters, they too understand and subtly tell you that there is no good or evil, just choices and their consequences...hard and painful as they may be, and we should accept what comes of them.

Spoiler-FreeThis DLC offers a really fun yet emotional story, well written with engaging characters. I appreciated how they stayed with the same pattern, as there is no happy ending and that everyone is struggling. The DLC is full of plot twists that impact future decisions in the DLC's story and missions.
However, I did run into some performance issues after installing the DLC. The new area (dogtown) loads slowly and often freezes (only the game freezes; I can still use other apps and also pause in-game). This was surprising since I have an RTX 4090, and I didn’t have any performance problems when I first played the game (no DLC) at the highest resolution. I also noticed ghosting, which I initially thought was my monitor, but it only happens in cyberpunk, other games runs fine. Adding mods helped fix many of these issues that really shouldn’t have been there.
Overall, I’m very happy with the DLC. I loved the song during the credit scene and all the new characters introduced. I think it’s definitely worth trying it out

Now this is what I was expecting from the base game. Phantom Liberty is a really fantastic expansion. Getting to explore the new area of Dogtown was really cool, and although it's small, it was interesting to see how the people lived there. Being a secret agent for the NUSA felt really cool, and the new ending was depressing but also sort of reasonable. The DLC endings were all pretty good too, and I really like Songbird, even if she can be a selfish liar. It does a good job of showing how there are no happy endings in Night City.Updated 6.5 Months Ago

Phantom Liberty is a great expansion that tells a fantastic story with very interesting and well written characters.Every character feels like someone with their own thoughts and feelings that make justified choices. The motion capture and voice acting is extremely well done, and it is very immersive. For my build, other than the weakspot skill, the new relic skill tree was pretty minor and didn't really affect gameplay that much.
