Time flies, and we just realized that it was the time to start nominations for the Itchmas event.
This is a special gaming event for December called "The 12 Days of Itchmas," a play on the classic 12 Days of Christmas. This does not replace the normal December Game of the Month, but rather supplements it. The goal is that we play a bunch of free games from Itch.io together in December and share our experiences. It's a chaotic and fun time!
How it works:
> From now through November 27, anyone can nominate games for Itchmas in this thread. Each user can nominate up to 3 games, and they must be free to play on Itch.io
> On November 28 a poll will go live where we vote for our favorites, and the top 12 games make it through!
> One of the winning games is revealed each day from Dec. 1 through Dec. 12
> We play any of the revealed winners throughout the month and discuss

Hell yeah, I was considering MapFriend as well.
My nominations:
[Itch.io / HLTB] Frog Assassin - An anti-rhythm game.
[Itch.io / HLTB] Basilisk - An unfinished (Or is it?) RPG for the Super Nintendo, now mostly stable and playable through the very old SNESy+ Emulator. You play as a noble Knight from the old Kingdom, sent down to solve the famine.
[Itch.io / HLTB] Sandtrix - Tetris + Falling Sand Game (fka as Setris)

It takes more time to prepare a Itch collection and prepare the poll for this event. I'll probably do it tomorrow... Which means there is still some time if someone wants to add more nominations.

I just voted. Actually lots of cool games in here this time. Really looking forward to the results!
Also, shout out to Kholdseid for nominating a Kitty Horrorshow release. Instant vote from me.

Basilisk: Seems neat, but judging from some reviews both on itch.io and other websites the full quality doesn't really get unlocked without also having Basilisk 2000 which is paid, so I didn't vote for it since I have other stuff here I'd be interested in.
Bloodborne PSX: I've been following this one for a while so very unsurprising I'd decide to vote for it, one I'll likely check out either way.
Chalk Gardens: The art style sold me instantly. Game doesn't seem bad either.
Descent: Hmmmm, seems interesting? I do like the pixel art style here, seems like a funky little psychological horror to go through, not toooooo much of an immediate hook so it's a bit hit or miss on if I wanna vote it. I wonder if Valis XI is a reference to the Valis games lol
Detour: Looks fun, but not really what I'm feeling like right now. I did add it to my collection to remember for later.
Dweller's Empty Path: I nominated it, so unsurprisingly I am voting for it. Love the art design, goes right with Escaped Chasm from before as well! Temmie Moments
Feather Park: Yeah I feel like exploring an autumn park and playing minigames right now, plus it looks cute.
FILTHBREED: This makes me realize I should have nominated a Toree game for this, since this was on one of the Haunted PS1 Demo Discs that Toree was on too. TBH this seems neat but I'm not really in a horror FPS mood (and most games here are at least Neat).
Franken: Cute, charming little RPG/Adventure game it looks like? The main character remindsm e a lot of Chowder from, uh...Chowder. Some Undertale-y vibes too. I gel with it enough to vote for it.
Frog Assassin: Not really sure what an "anti-rhythm" game is, not really feeling this one. I like the art and the silly intro text on the page!
From Orbit: Fun to see an RTS on here, but not vibing with it all too much.
Gidget & The Mysterious Thievery of Hoppity Town: What a charming art style! It looks like a cute little point and click mystery adventure? I'm down for a little detectiving, let's go!
Haunted Cities Volume 4: I've never heard of Kitty Horrorshow before, but it seems like people in Discord are pretty fond of them! The game itself looks like a charming horror anthology, so I'll take a dip and vote it.
HoloCure: Just gonna say right now, VOTE FOR THIS ONE! I've been following it since it started and it is suuuuuuuuuuch a fun little time waster with some nice depth to it. Still boot it up all the time just to mess around for half an hour, not unlike Tetris. I'll also note it is free on Steam and I think that might be the more recently updated version with a lot more added, but I don't remember. (This also made me realize I could have nominated some extra stuff but I am happy with what we got)
iro: The game page REALLY doesn't give any details! I actually booted it up and it looks like an Atari-style adventure / exploration game? Lonely planet, little robot? Kinda on the bubble here.
Lookouts: Furry gay cowboy Visual Novel with an incredible art style? SOLD!
MapFriend: Doesn't look like the kinda horror I'm in the mood for right now, but I do like the idea of using Google Maps as a base for a horror game.
Observer: Looks neat enough, but being part of a 22-part game series where not all of it is free is a bit of a turnoff for Itchmas, and then looking at previous games in the series writing-wise made me tune out more.
Pigeon Ascent: I want to fight the Pigeon God.
Pyramid Break: I dunno man, it kinda just seems like a Mario Party minigame even if I appreciate the art style, and the only one left on itch.io looks like a gimped demo version. Pass.
Sandtrix: Played this for a game and it melted my mind in the best possible way, y'all better give Cockroach his due and vote for this. (If you didn't vote for it, go change your votes to include it-)
Shogun Showdown: It was my own nomination, so. Seemed like a fun l'il card-based rogue-like.
Slide in the Woods: ???????
Soundmarine: Played this very briefly and it felt like some serious fuckin' Vibes so I am down with this one!
Sulphur Nimbus: Hel's Elixir: There's like no chance this didn't start out as a My Little Pony inspired game, right? It looks like a 3D Platformer flight sim looks pretty unique in the series of nominations and I'm down for that combination. I apparently "own" this game from the Ukraine Bundle!
The Anglerfish Project: This seems like a REALLY unique premise for a fishing game and it sticks out among a lot of the more retro games, visual novels and horror games in the Itchmas grouping. Definitely voting for this one!
TinkerCore: I am a sucker for Game Boy Color aesthetic games, this looks very Link's Awakening-esque? Definitely feels like something I'd vibe with right now, sure.
Tomato Clinic: One of my nominations, and one I've actually finished before! I wrote a review for it years ago, so if you're curious check it out!
UNDER A STAR CALLED SUN: Looks good! I don't really want to play it for Itchmas this time around, but I like the black and white background colors vs. the actually colored people!
windowkill: This one looks really creative! I love shoot 'em ups like this, so pretty instantly appealing to me.
Yoshi Goes to Tesco: yoshi
Yurivania 1: Uhaul of the Night: This is cute enough that I did save it for later, but I felt like there were a lot of the more GBC-infused titles I preferred more and it didn't grab my attention enough to vote.

Played Soundmarine just now - it's a neat little concept, and clearly a Ludum Dare game, as there really isn't much to it - unfortunately I was left wishing I could invert the controls, so it took me a couple of attempts to complete, but overall it was enjoyable and "neat", just nothing I'd get too crazy about =)

I played Soundmarine just now. I mean, it's a neat little project. Decent music and fairly original visual design.
But certainly not something I'd remember. Also, it was kinda annoying to me that you always had to go to the outer edge of the screen or even leave it to even catch most of the blocks. Plus, the flat color graphics make it harder to estimate distance.

Just finished Soundmarine. Definitely less of a game and more of a "oh wow that's kind of cool I guess" experience.
I liked it somewhat, but was glad to see it not drag on for too long.

Just played Soundmarine yeah short and sweet. Good use of layered music

So just beat MapFriend interesting concept but needs more fleshing out imo. Maybe I missed it but the ending should've been hinted at more in the rest of the game
Also that was my 500th game beat
