Hi I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I'm playing the Remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn on Steam. It wasn't on the list so I went to "submit" and added it, but it seems it got added as some kind of alias to the original Complete Edition game, and now when I try to import the time played and statistics it shows the ones from the original, but in Steam they are two separate games. Is this ok? Thanks

Because the Complete and Remastered have identical content, they are considered the same game here, hence the alias. You can use the Remastered time on the "original" game with no problem. That's intended.

They are two games on Steam because they are two different products, but here we "merge" versions of the game that are actually the same underneath a new layer of shiner graphics. Unless they have additional content.

It's still a videogame. This game I was talking about is a quiz game. I think it works kind of like a more advanced form of a play menu screen, but it still functionally is a videogame and fits it by definition.

"Interactive movie" would be something like a choose your own adventure movie where you occasionally choose what to do next with the remote. I've never heard of a DVD like that before, but I'm sure they exist since "Interactive Movie" is a platform option. I didn't see that option until you mentioned I'd, but neither of my DVD games fit Interactive Movie as a platform.

I mean yes you are right in that sense. Although my suggestion is that this is where the DVD "games" live, because it's quite a small category and can also include things like Blu-Ray and unique formats of which I think there are a couple.

I'm not saying it's a perfect fit, but that platform already covers "dvd games". At least that's where I put them when adding platforms to relevant game pages.

That said, a better name isn't a bad idea.

Can you please add DVD Player as a platform. I know I have a couple of DVD games that I had as a kid. One of them is "Take the Buzz! Family Quiz", and I don't have a platform listed with it because there's no DVD option. I also have this Ice Age activity disc which is of a few educational kids games. If anyone doesn't understand how a DVD game works, it's controlled using the DVD Player remote.

Sometimes we need to revisit history, overcome preconceived notions, and challenge all the arguments laid on the table. FF13 has always been a victim of this—of what self-proclaimed influencers have always ranted about this game. Yes, it is a very linear game. But that shouldn’t mean it’s bad, nor should it make the game a disaster just because of that. The story of Lightning, Sazh, Vanille, Snow, Hope, and Fang is well-told, well-structured, and has enjoyable development. It even satisfactorily explains the past and present, as well as the contextual setting where everything unfolds.

There is sometimes a flaw that might push players away: the introduction of a ton of concepts and definitions that aren’t immediately explained, which can lead to some players dropping the game. However, those who are patient are rewarded. Another interesting point is how the game, through its marketing and image, tries to sell Lightning as the main protagonist. But the story’s progression doesn’t fully align with this: all six characters (and sometimes even seven, as Serah has her moments of prominence) have their own moments in the spotlight and well-developed individual stories.

The difficulty spike in Chapter XI is quite disproportionate, which takes a point off my evaluation. Even so, there’s a solid justification for it, one that aligns with the story and context the game provides at that moment. Most importantly, it gives players a reason to explore the side content that opens up in this chapter—perhaps the only point where the game truly feels like an Open World, and certainly the only moment where players have the freedom to go wherever they want, even if that means going nowhere at all.

The Crystarium and Paradigm systems might feel a bit confusing at first, but the way the game introduces new features gradually helps the learning process feel organic. FF13 isn’t perfect—far from it. Sometimes, it’s even tiring. But it’s far from the disaster that some claim it to be. It’s worth sticking with it.

Conversely I think it's a disaster from having played it on release.

The best part of the game is the one where it isn't a tunnel, but it doesn't last longel. FFX managed to make a fairly linear game feel much less like one so the template was there. The combat is alright but it can't save the game. The characters are (mostly) annoying and the story (or at least the communication of the story) isn't good enough. They made two sequels which are probably better, but it's hard to get excited about their existence.

I do not like VIII, but it says something when I would rather replay that and give it a second chance than I would XIII or to try its sequels. Not that I plan to do either.

So no, I don't think influencers should dictate whether a game is good or not, but I do think the reputation the game has, and has always had since it released is not undeserved. And the intended spin off became XV, which I couldn't even stomach the demo of.

Anyway, maybe I'm the one who is wrong. I'm glad you could enjoy it. I can't.

I could write a detailed post but really I can sum up my thoughts very easily for once.

If you are burnt out on games or finding it difficult to be excited by them, it's time to do something else for a while. The same as any other hobby. Game's shouldn't be a chore or work unless your job is making games. Sometimes I find playing a not so good game instead of all the big games refreshes the palette.

If gaming is your only hobby, then you need a secondary hobby, even if it's a casual one.

Shadow of the Serpent Riders is really an expansion pack. There are three episodes in the full version of heretic, and an additional two in Shadow. Shareware Heretic only consists of the first episode, as was the tradition of the time.

I think the problem here is that Shadow was the first Retail version of the game much like The Ultimate Doom was the first Retail version of Doom. But both titles could be bought by mail order from id first and they may have had limited distribution at a handful of stores that bought them from id

So the separate release versions are both legitimate.

From what I can tell these are the group of games based on the same manga, but with one character transliterated differently (perhaps due to mistake). Before Everdred can give a official answer, I have some thoughts.

My understanding is that GOG and Steam offer their own API's for people to access this information, either directly or through other peoples scripts. I don't believe Sony offer an Api themselves, and some of the third party ones appear to be unsuitable for this sort of site. I see mention of needing to use your own PSN account details to scrape the data which doesn't seem a great idea. I saw another that limits you to 500 calls per hour which would be very restrictive for a site like this.

I think the most telling thing is that the site doesn't show Xbox prices, despite Microsoft having an integration with HLTB's times. I think this suggests that the console companies don't offer API's that would be suitable. I can't find any mention of them at least.

Hm, based off those clues, I'd go CoD Black Ops? Seems a bit surreal for that series but there is like Cold War paranoia stuff which might fit the vibe? Haven't played a CoD since the first Black Ops so could be way off the mark there lol.

Remix is literally the original Saturn port but with the removal of some lighting features in favour of fixing the graphical issues with the original Saturn release. Content is identical, and I can find no mention of the alleged gameplay changes some sites claim to the point where they either don't exist, or are extremely minor balancing changes.

Just to highlight the redundancy in having two listings, the PC version is a port of Remix, yet released simply as Virtua Fighter PC.

Remix was released in the arcades, but it's just the Saturn version running on the ST-V system so Sega could sell it to more arcade operators due to its reduced cost versus the Model 1 original.
