Yeah not sure they seem to be holding back with the PC version of Bloodborne. Not sure why guess they want to keep it exclusive still on the PS and they're having issues with translating it to PC (the dark souls are notorious for poor PC performance)

...and that's turnip boy done... so alright I guess little zelda game easy to get through has some decent chuckles here and there but not much else really to the game. Guess I wish it had more humour I enjoyed but can't say it's bad more like a well polished itch.io game

Just the one game but it's a dozy of a game:

22nd January - Baldur's Gate 3 - 141h 38m 55s

Ranking
1st - Baldur's Gate 3 - A huge and extensive RPG with a great story and characters. Only a few few issues with the inventory and camera holds the game back

Bloodborne: Game of the Year Edition
Completion April 25th, 2018
Main+Extras 73h 10m 21s
Notes SL 169, All none root chalice dungeons, All bosses + DLC
Review
Bloodborne is a fantastic addition to the Soulsborne series and excellent playthrough through most of the possible areas.

One of the greatest things about the game is it’s atmosphere. Throughout the whole game there is this creeping foreboding atmosphere which hangs over the whole game. While not outright the scariest game it is constantly keeping the tension up with every move which you go through the game and it never lets off as the game delves further and further into the madness of the hunters night and the things you hunt slowly lose more and more of there humanity.

The gameplay plays a lot more aggressive compared to its counterpart Dark Soul games. There are no effective shields to hide behind this time and you will regain health if you returns hits fast enough after taking hits creating this very rewarding feed back loop for playing aggressive with the enemy. This does not mean the game is easier then the Dark Souls series as it will still effective punish inconsiderate and rushed gameplay styles and it has a much better balance between taking risks and punishing mistakes. It ultimately is perhaps the most rewarding in terms of gameplay in the soulsborne series.

The bosses were as also a mix of large monster creatures and smaller hunter style bosses which act as duels between two different characters. These are the stand out bosses in the games as these bosses act and play like another hunter where they can attack with trick weapons, parry with the gun and side step. These fast moving enemies are where the true fun of the game takes place.

While I adore this game I feel it’s held back by the chalice dungeons. Due to them being set up so they could be procedural generated they have a rather lackluster design style and at times feel tacked on with a lot of the bosses in the level just been powered up mob enemies. Still there are some interesting boss battles and the Defiled Chalice is probably the hardest area in the game although it is hard mealy cause it docks half your helath through the level.

The biggest problem though I had with the chalice dungeons was that ultimately due to there tacked on feel to them they can and did ruin the pace of the game for me especially the end game areas of the game as I did the chalice dungeons before completing the game and the DLC. The chalice dungeons especially the lower depths are great places for farming blood echoes for leveling up which can be helpful for players but in the end I over leveled for a lot of the last sections of the game where challenges were easily powered through and while you still can’t be too careless it meant places where I expected a challenge I easily overcame. I was considering docking points for this but honestly if I had done the chalice dungeons later as they are thankfully optional then I wouldn’t of had this problem. If you do pick up this game I recommend leveling doing the chalice dungeons to after reaching New game plus.

Ultimately Bloodborne is a fantastic addition to the Soulborne franchise and is worth the journey to completed this game.

Baldur's Gate 3
Completion January 22nd, 2025
Main+Extras 141h 38m 55s
Notes Illithid ending
Review
+A great array of companions with there own interlocking stories
+A expansive and deep set of levels with many hidden secrets
+An excellent system of spells and abilities to give each character a there unique strengths and weaknesses
-The camera easily gets stuck and does a poor job of handling multiple floors
-The inventory system is an unwieldy mess
-System can be too reliant on DnD knowledge and can be daunting for non DnD players
Overview: Baldurs Gate 3 is a huge and expansive CRPG that does an excellent job of compelling people to go through the world with it’s expansive and well done combat and speech systems. Utilizing these systems to make different classes stronger and weaker in different situations and being able to talk your walk out of a lot of fights with the right charisma or deal large amount of melee damage as a fighter or crowd control as a wizard. Using this system it tells an excellent story with a set of companions with there our background and side stories which all link back into the main story to compel you to continue playing within the world which itself is large and expansive with a ton of hidden secrets within each area you go to. While an excellent RPG it is not without it’s issues the two big ones being the camera especially within multi storey buildings easily gets stuck and it’s difficult to move the camera between levels with ease and the inventory is a mess and takes a bit too much work to manage especially as each character have their own inventory. It also doesn’t always explain the DnD based system well especially accessible to none DnD players and doesn’t really explain dice for battles that well. Overall though Baldur’s Gate 3is a huge and expansive RPG with a ton to offer and only a few niggles in the way.

No issue with the nomination as the game came out 2015 it can go into the anniversary nominations if you like but will be allowed in the main if you'd prefer it in that vote

You can make a second nomination for this month as long it's not a game already previously chosen (see my previous post for the list of games) or a collection of games

A game which basically has a whole bunch of nothing. There isn’t much in terms of art, gameplay and the story is just ultimately too abstract to really say anything. Nothing in this game piqued my interest.
4/10

13th - Delia: The Travelling Witch
Completion December 19th, 2024
Main Story 1h 14m 6s
Review
Delia is a basic GB game style platform but the controls feel floaty and I found myself frustrated with the game a lot. I came away rather uninterested in the game and just didn’t fully enjoy myself. It might because it’s not my style of game but I wasn’t inspired by this gameplay

12th - Off Peak

A rather peculiar and off beat collect a thon with a lot of inept dialogue and just a series of random models placed in different sizes and locations. It got some good animations but can’t get away from how ugly it is. It is not helped by it’s more boring gameplay

A game far too short for it’s own good./ It had a few concepts which needed to be utilized but failed to do so in any meaningful way. A few more levels would’ve helped the game more

A decent enough if a bit childish point n click game. Nothing spectacular but ultimately nothing bad about it either it just didn’t pique my interest

A good atmospheric cabin with some good PS era stylisations. It is a shame there is no major gameplay in the game and just ends up being a simple collectathon

A decent concept with some good progression and does a lot well with the small size and could easily fleshed out but game was a bit simplistic for me. Not bad but needed more

7th - Pakke-Is
Completion December 21st, 2024
Main Story 29m 7s
Review
Pakke-Is is an interesting concept and uses a kayak to get around the game as well as the oars to push through the water. However instead working a rhythm for the oars you can simply accelerate like a car which I felt hurt the concept more then helped, it is also not helped by the stiff controls. Saying that it is well visualised and the game could really work out if just tightened up a bit.

Alright little point n click. Needed a bit more complicated puzzles and it sets itself up for a bigger game which I’m uncertain is available. Not too sure but made well enough at least.

Fun little cooking like game like Overcooked that last a bit too long for it’s own good and could do with some more equipment in the game

A fun little escape room with a few different and interesting puzzles to keep you occupied. It does throw you in the deep end and kinda fails to properly introduce you to the game but still once you get going it can be rather fun.

3rd - A Good Gardner
Completion December 15th, 2024
Main Story 1h 8m 31s

An excellently contrasting game with a nice and simple laid back style of game with a rather dark story which is slowly relied to you. It is extremely well done and very emotion and very much worth the entry for. It is missing some visual indications in it’s gameplay such as how much water you have left but these are minor issues for an excellent story.

Review
A fantastic and basically full game based on Bloodborne but as a karting game. Some great karts and circuits and a real well thought out karting system involving defeationg enemies to increse your top speed. It however does have issues and relies too much on battle arenas over races for my liking but still a great gameplay

1st - Sheep: A Short Adventure

Review
A strong and well made little platform game. Extremely well made and well refined. Had great feel and could easily be a small part of a larger game without any further issues. A game well worth giving a go.
10/10

Overview: Very strong year this with really only one game I outright disliked. There was my first itch.io 10 and there were 4 games I thoroughly enjoyed and had very little issues with. Alot of games with potential that either needed just tightening up or expanding. Think this was the strongest showing so far.

Just beat Pakke-Is and it was interesting concept that I think isn't done correctly imo. You control a kayak and if using a controller using the bumpers but you hold them down instead of going in rhythm with the oar. This feels like a bit of missed opportunity. It is not helped that it felt a bit stiff in the turning and a times the boat wouldn't turn for me. I liked the concept but not the execution in the end

Just beat Off Peak and that was just weird. Alot of out of scale characters chatting a load of nonsense. Simple collect-a-thon but didn't have the charm as rental imo

And now the final game Sheepy: A Short Adventure and that was really well made game with alot you could easily expand on. It's base is real strong while I do think more health should've been given it quickly starts giving you more power ups to allow to progress and the gameplay was primarily based on platforming with the fights limited to just a three boss fights. Music was great but not sure if it fits the game and the story seems to leading somewhere but I didn't get enough to see what it was trying to say. Never the less this is a strong contender and def one of the better entries this year (tbf this has been a strong itchmas I got 3 games I could consider the best for change)

I geet my full reviews and ranking up when I have a chance
